Wholesale Large Format Printing Test
Scope Overview
Wholesale Large Format Printing. Based on root cause analysis, several viable options have been identified as solutions to improve inventory management at Marketing Advantage. As a process improvement project manager, you must now define a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for 3 of these potential solutions. You may choose any 3 from the list:
· Hire or appoint an employee to be fully dedicated to inventory management
· Implement a software tool that manages inventory
· Change culture at Marketing Advantage to show more urgency and timely planning/action
· Define and implement a forecasting process & system
· Implement an automatic re-order process when inventory crosses below threshold
· Partner with a local supplier to become a supplier /distributor of raw material (media)
Deliverable
Your assignment is to create a detailed Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for 3 of the solutions listed above. The WBS must contain a detailed list of ALL the work required to implement 3 of these solutions. Since this is NOT a project schedule, you should not capture predecessor relationships, duration estimates, effort estimates, resource assignments or dates. The objective is to capture the work involved, not to create a project schedule. REMEMBER: this WBS must be detailed enough that a capable person can perform the required work without any additional guidance about what must be done.
Give thought to the specific work required to implement these solutions. Since a WBS is used to identify the Deliverables for a project, you should identify Deliverables as nouns. The work required to produce the deliverables should be identified using verbs. In other words, any summary task/line should be treated as a Deliverable (and therefore be identified using a noun).
You should create a WBS using a list format.
Evaluation Criteria
The deliverables for this case study project will be evaluated as followed:
· Does the WBS contain a comprehensive list of the ALL work required to implement the solution?
· Does the WBS reference deliverables as Nouns and tasks as verbs?
· Is the work organized in a structured and rational way?
· Have you included a hierarchical number to uniquely identify each item (i.e. 1.3.4.1)
· Do the tasks logically link to the deliverable?
· Are the tasks granular enough to show ALL the work required? Should be very detailed and complete.
